BBYO: youth-led, worldwide organization which provides opportunities for Jewish youth to develop their leadership potential, a positive Jewish identity, and a commitment to their personal development.
Objectives of BBG (B'nai B'rith Girls):
Objectives of BBG (B'nai B'rith Girls):
- To help youth enhance their knowledge and appreciation of Jewish religion and culture.
- To provide Jewish youth with the opportunities to learn leadership skills and develop their leadership potential.
- To help Jewish youth recognize opportunities for service and encourage involvement in the Jewish and general communities.
- To develop in Jewish youth an appreciation for the meaning and practice of tzedakah.
- To help Jewish youth develop a commitment to the State of Israel.
- To help Jewish youth develop a positive self-image.
- To encourage the development of friendships between Jewish youth.
The 6 Folds (incorporated into every event)
Community Service: tikun olam aka repairing the world. ie: volunteering in a soup kitchen, walk for a cause, canned-food drive, helping a temple by baking baked goods
Creativity: events that will enhance the youth's creativity and natural talents. ie: fashion shows, pizza-making parties, jewelry parties, or painting murals
Jewish Heritage: to understand the importance of the Jewish religion and culture. ie: murder-mystery Shabbat dinner (done), chocolate seder (done), multicultural Shabbat dinner
Sisterhood: the essence of BBG! These programs focus more on the bonding of sisterhood ie: BBG 331 Annual Spa Night, Good and Welfare, etc
Recreation: events including the AZA chapters (boys) to get active/moving! ie: laser tag, unconventional sports night, paint wars!
Social Action: events created to educate the members on social issues. ie: Cancer Awareness, Prevention of Teen Suicide, AIDS awareness, Regional Stand Up! programs
